Desparation

Mila's POV

By the third day of not hearing anything from Jade I was becoming highly upset and worried. I mean fuck, she lost her memory and she's missing. She threw Derek out and then I'm guessing she left.

I was in the livingroom pacing when Derek walked in, I turned on him quickly. "Where the hell have you been?"

"Woe, I've been looking for Jade." He put his hands up in defense. Like that would help him at this point. "And?" I waited, crossing my arms and glaring at him.

"And, nothing. I can't find anything." I rolled my eyes. "Fuck, I knew not to leave the job for a little boy to do." I went into the kitchen and he followed pinning me up agains the counter. "Little boy, huh? That's not what you were saying last night when you were screaming my name." He licked me from my collarbone to my ear lobe. "Quit that shit. You know what I mean, Derek."

I pushed him away and poured myself a cup of hot steaming coffee. "We have to find her before she remembers to much. Without the potion everything about Evan will come back. I don't want her remembering all that horrible shit."

"You just don't want her remembering you fucked her boyfriend." His voice had took on a bitter edge. It gave me chills. "That's not it."

He put his hand up to silence me. "What the fuck?"

"Shut up a minute." He walked around to the front door and listened intently. "Someone's listening."

Derek's POV

I stood there listening to the unknown intruder on the porch before flinging the door open and exposing them. I was not expecting who I came face to face with. Unable to respond I just stood there, as did Mila. We all just stared at each other. "Evan?" Mila finally spoke but it was barely a whisper.

A crooked grin spread upon his sneering face. "Mila, dear. I wondered where you had run off to." He reached out and brushed the back of his hand down her face. "I've missed you." That's when my senses came back to me and I knocked his hand away from her. "Keep your filthy hands off her." I pulled her to my side and glared at him. I wanted him to see the hate in my eyes.

He smirked. "Oh, you have no idea what all happened, Derek."

"What? How?" He grinned and pushed passed us. "I could see it in your eyes, you don't hide things well." He kept looking around my house. We followed him into the livingroom.

"She's not here, Evan." Mila finally got her voice back. "I know that stupid girl." He shook his head. "I'm looking for something else. He kept walking around patting various locations and finding nothing. "What the hell gives you the right to come into my house and begin searching for something without even telling me what it is that you desire so dearly?"

"It has nothing to do with you. Stay out of it." That was it he had pushed me far enough already. I grabbed his arm. "I think it's time for you to leave, Evan." He jerked away from me and laughed. "Oh, me being here has just begun brother." He smirked.

Evan's POV

I saw the realization dawn on Mila's face as I said that one simple sentence. "Oh yes, Mila. We are brothers."

She bit her lip and looked over at Derek. "Is it true?" He took a deep breath and swallowed hard, nodding. "Yes, it's true. But we haven't spoke in what....8 years? Yeah, that's about right 8 or 9 years."

"Is that why you were so surprised to see him at your door?"

"Yes." He sneered looking directly at me. We had hated each other since I had took Natalie from him years ago. He had never gotten over it. Supposedly, she was his first love and would settle for nobody else. Thinking of this made me roll my eyes. It was utterly ridiculous. Everything about him was ridiculous. He always was the weaker one.

I finally found what I was looking for in a book safe. I cracked it open and took out the ring. "Now, Jade will not be able to resist me. She will come to me like nothing ever happened, like she was meant to." I narrowed my eyes at Mila. "If someone would have kept her mouth shut then this would be neccessary."

She squeaked, making me laugh. I knew she was frightened of me. She always was, which is why she slept with me. She was afraid I would have taken it from her anyway. I'm not that type of guy but its nice to see people bow down to you in fear when needed. I put the ring on my finger and slowly started toward the door when I felt a small hand on my arm. She twirled me around to her and punched me square in the nose, breaking it. "You little bitch! Never put your hands on me again." Something about me felt odd. This wasn't me. I don't talk to women like that. I turned and ran out the door before I did something out of my control.

Mila's POV

"What's going on, Derek? That wasn't the Evan I know." I felt the tears starting to sting the back of my eyes. What was wrong with the man that was once my secret lover. Creepy things were going on and I would feel much better about them if my sister was here or somewhere I knew that she was at. This suspense was driving me mad.

"I don't know, Mila. But I have to agree. As much as I despise that man, that was not him." He looked at the door as if his real brother would burst through it at any moment. "We need to find her before he does."

"I have a feeling we're to late, Mila. He's already found her or he wouldn't have come looking for the ring." He groaned with defeat. I placed my hand on his shoulder and faced him. "We still have to try. There may still be hope." He leaned down and kissed me softly. "We need to find out what's going on with Evan while we're at it." He ran his hand through my hair and at that moment I knew he would help me make things better. I have to find my sister and make things right even if it means losing her as my sister and having her hate me for the rest of our lives. It's what's for the best and it's what she needs at this point. I just hope we're not to late and get to her before Evan does. He could make thins a whole hell of a lot more complicated than it needs to be. But we will take it one obstacle at a time and head on at that. I would conquer this and get Jade back to where she needs to be in life.

"It'll work out, Mila." He embraced me and kissed the top of my head, "I know what you're thinking. But we'll get it all to work out in the end. You just have to believe that and it will happen." He was serious. He thinks if I just believe things will work themselves out. I was not good at just believing. I never have been, now was no exception. I pulled back and looked in his gorgeous eyes. "How can you expect me to just believe, Derek? My sister is missing. Her ex, your brother, is looking for her and he's not even is normal self. Something or someone has messed with him. Put a curse on him or gave him a potion of some kind. It's disturbing and scary. Explain how you can just believe things will work themselves out when we don't know where to start looking for Jade and Evan probably already knows where she's at?" I was exhausted from the morning events and was becoming emotional.

"Calm down." He began leading me over to the couch, sitting down and laying my head in his lap. He magicked a blanket over me and ran his fingers through my hair trying to soothe me. "I can't." He chuckled softly. "Of course you can. Just relax." I tried to do as he said and soon found myself starting to get sleepy. I was still worried about Jade but was trying to put my faith in Derek right now. I had to, otherwise I would let it bother me to the point of going crazy.

Laying there thinking about where my sister might be, I felt Derek's other arm lay lightly over my waist and I fell asleep quite content with my thoughts and the way Derek seemed to genuinely care about myself and Jade.
