Jade’s POV
It has been a week since we searched my house. I haven’t been up to going back there yet. I decided to ride into town with Derek this morning, to the store. I needed some air and sometime away from his house for a bit. This was the perfect opportunity.
When we got back to Derek’s house there was a black mustang parked out front. I was confused. Derek hadn’t been expecting any company that I knew of. But he seemed to know the car. So I got out and followed him to the house.
I walked inside and to my surprise I saw my sister standing there waiting on us. My mouth dropped. “Is that really you?” I asked, unsure. I was confused as to how she would know where I was at. It hit me then, I turned to Derek. “You did this didn’t you?”
He nodded. “Thank you.” I gave him a quick hug then went to my sister pulling her into a hug.
“My god, Jade. You’ve had me worried to death.” I sighed when she said that.
“What do you mean?” I wondered when the lasttime I had talked to her was.
“We were suppose to meet for lunch the day after Evan had…..you know. But you never showed or called. Where have you been and why are you with Derek?” How the hell did she know Derek?
“I was at The Alibi drinking my sorrows away. When I left I was bashed over the head and woke up in Derek’s house, unable to remember anything.” I sighed looking around confused. “Wait, how do you know Derek?” I searched her eyes for answers.
Mila’s POV
I sat there trying to think of a logical explanation on how I know Derek. But there was none except we had a summer fling and slept together a few times. End of story. Not how I wanted my sister to see me if she didn’t even remember me.
“Well, um….we had a thing last summer.” I told her, biting my lip in concentration.
“You had a thing? Do you mean you slept with Derek for a while?” I looked down when she asked. I wonder if she was remembering anything. “Uh…yeah.” I said rather quietly.
She put her hand on top of mine. “You don’t have to be embarrassed, Mila. I remember how you were…are. I don’t hold that against you. Hell, I remember being the same way. But I can't believe you slept with Derek.” She laughed. “We always were to much alike for our own good.”
We started laughing and couldn’t stop. We both fell over on the couch clutching our stomachs. It took Derek walking in and asking, “What’s so damn funny?” for us to contain our laughter. I sat up and helped Jade up. “Nothing of your concern, Derek.” I gave him what he always called the Mila look. I narrowed my eyes and mouth squinting my eyes slightly. “Just go away and let us talk.”
He put his hands up in surrender. “Not a problem. I’ll be out back at the pool if you all need me.” He damn near ran out the back door. He wouldn’t admit it but he was afraid of me. Always has been.
Jade’s POV
All these memories of Mila was starting to come back all at once. I grabbed my head as it started throbbing from the vague memories rushing through it. It felt like my head was going to explode, like someone was shoving nails through it.
I turned to Mila and muttered. “Help.” Before I collapsed on the floor screaming in pain.
I saw her jump up from the couch and run outside to get Derek. The last thing I remember before blacking out was Derek scooping me up and running with me out the door. Next thing I knew I woke up and looked around seeing nothing but white. I groaned, still having a headache.
I felt someone reach out and touch my arm, I glanced over at them. It was Mila and Derek sitting at my side. “Where am I?” I asked, already knowing but wanting to actually hear someone say it. “You’re in the hospital.” Derek piped up and said. I groaned again. “I told you not to take me to the hospital.” I said grumpily.
“But…” He protested. “No..” I interrupted him. “I told you no matter what DO NOT take me to the hospital.” I crossed my arms completely ticked off.
Derek’s POV
I sat there not knowing what to say. For some reason, I hated her being mad at me. I looked down and took her hand in mine, leaning my head against the side of the bed. “I’m sorry, Jade.”
I wanted to get her healthy and her life back on track. She had quickly become one of my dearest friends and I was afraid when she found out what type of guy I really am that she would hate me.
I sat there silent for a moment listening to her breathing before looking up at her. “Please forgive me. I was worried about you. You were in so much pain.” I sighed. “I had to do something.”
She bit her lip, thinking I suppose. “I guess you did. Alright, you’re forgiven. But don’t let it happen again.”
After spending twelve hours in St. Mungos and several tests later she was released and I took her back to my house. I carried her straight up to bed and placed her in it. “You are to stay there and rest.” I practically ordered her.
Jade’s POV
I sat straight up in bed and looked at him. “EXCUSE ME?!?!” I demanded, my voice rising. No one ordered me to do anything.
“You heard me.” He told me. What the fuck? “Oh hell no. I am not taking orders from you Derek!” I stated plainly.
“Then do it as a favor to me and because the healer said for you to stay in bed.” I sighed, crossing my arms and laying back down. “Fine!” I pouted not looking at him.
“Oh and Mila told me to tell you she would be back later. She had some errands to run or something.” He explained. “When did she leave?” I asked, wondering why she hadn’t told me herself.
“About an hour before you were released.” I closed my eyes, exhausted. “Ok.” was all I could say. I wanted to talk to her about the memories I was having that caused the severe pain in my head in the first place but she had just run off like always. Derek nodded and walked out going downstairs, not sure why. No one seems to tell me anything anymore, like they’re both trying to hide something.
I promised myself right then that I would keep a journal of my memories and I WOULD find out what Mila and Derek were up to. Because I knew it was something and I was almost positive that it had to do with me.
